Simón Monllor Alcaraz
Laboratory technician (Degree in Chemistry)
IMDEA Water. Avenida Punto Com, 2. Parque Científico Tecnológico de la Universidad de Alcalá. Alcalá de Henares. 28805 MADRID
Degree in Chemistry by the University of Alicante (UA) (2014). In 2015 he finished a master's degree in Materials Science at the University of Alicante (UA) and he worked with carbon foams and studied the infiltration kinetics of mesophasic pitch in porous preforms. Moreover, he participated in a national project and made a presentation at the congress MATCOMP.
In the 2016-2018 periods he worked as a laboratory technician at the Institute of Environmental Diagnosis and Water Studies (IDAEA-CSIC) (Barcelona). During this stage, he achieved a lot of experience in the chromatographic analysis of polar and apolar pesticides in samples of water, sediments and fish. He also used various extraction techniques such as: solid phase extraction (SPE), pressurized solvent extraction (ASE) and ultrasonic assisted extraction. In addition, he was able to develop and validate multi-residue methods capable of quantifying 50 polar pesticides in these environmental matrices with HPLC-MS / MS and GC-MS / MS. Finally, he participated in several projects at national and European level and he attended to the “Jornadas de Análisis Instrumental” (JAI) and presented a poster.
In 2018 he joined to Laboratorios Viñas (Barcelona). In this laboratory he continued working with HPLC-UV and GC-UV equipment as a quality control technician and analysed pharmaceutical, cosmetic, phytosanitary and food supplements. In addition, he was able to develop methods for chromatographic analysis of different pharmaceutical products.
He currently works at IMDEA agua (Alcalá de Henares, Madrid) as a supporting researcher. In this experience he will be in charge of the analysis of metals in water samples, soils and other environmental matrices with the ICP-MS / MS technique. In addition, it will be in charge of preparing the samples with the use of the ETHOS ONE microwave and other extraction methods.
